Virtual
Adam records a stretch of life for Dex to replay. The audience is inside the file until the recording ends.
Virtual asks you to sit inside a recording and notice it only when the recording stops.
Adam leaves the house with an earpiece in and records a visit. Dex will put a visor on later and step into that memory. Until END RECORDING, the audience is in the file. Then the present returns, thinner, without the grade of memory. Point of view, playback, a return to the present: the idea is already a film, even if the cut is not finished.
The public cut does not carry it all the way. Faces hold in stills and slip in motion. Jackets drift. The music sometimes does the work the edit should do. The intention is cinematic. The result is still being cut.
Time in the piece is meant to be four looks — a cyan HUD, teal memory, amber restore, warm daylight — and two men who are not supposed to trade places. Nothing after the trick is meant to explain it. Those choices are visible even while picture is unlocked. Watch the rough for whether you ever believe you are in a present that is actually a file. The rest of this number stays with the faces, and with what happens when a locked still is asked to walk.
